The amazing exhibit "Jellies" at the Shedd Aquarium has been extended until 2013. The showcase of 10 species of jelllyfish was originally scheduled to close this Monday. But the response has been incredible. More than 1 million visitors have been mezerized by the boneless, bloodless and brainless underwater species. More info at sheddaquarium.org

It's Prom SEASON! Yes "season" - the Prom Itinerary last about a month! First there is the way-too-elaborate "asking to the prom" production. Then there's the tuxedo fitting/dress buying, the selecting and ordering of the flowers, prom tickets to buy and in some cases limos to book. Then there is the pre-prom picture party for kids and parents and then the actual Prom. Followed by.... the after prom party. Some kids actually rent hotel rooms or Michigan/Wisconsin cabins for the weekend. And because this isn't exciting enough - the "skip day" outing to Great America! When did this get so out of control? You really don't want your son or daughter to be the only one not allowed to join in the party but you've got to draw the line somewhere...right? We ARE the parents... right? I said no to the limo, hotel and unsupervised out-of-town sleepovers. Now - after all that ranting I want to proudly show off my handsome son Steven and his beautiful friend Gabby.
