Wow, HERE'S something...
It used to be common for states to BAN ALCOHOL SALES on Election Day . . . because they were afraid people would vote drunk or get TOO DRUNK to vote, I guess!
TWO states STILL have those bans... all alcohol sales are banned in South Carolina and Kentucky. They're the last two holdouts. Kentucky has discussed the possibility of getting rid of the ban . . . but not South Carolina. They still love it.
